We are not unaware of the term “downsizing” and its after effects. These days almost everyone feels insecure about his or her job. Well, let me introduce you with the ways with which you will not face the fear of downsizing, ever. Right-sizing is the new name of downsizing as per my context. After all, every businessman wants to have a right individual for a right job. With the passage of time every investor and businessman learned a fact, that, there are many needy people out there who are qualified yet in need of jobs. So if they will be provided half a chance to appear for the interview they will definitely agree to work on the same salary with much longer job description. This is the new trend of the market. Organizations hire those candidates who can work for multiple positions, that is why multitasking is talk of the town these days.
So, to avoid such a misfortune you must get a bit smart in the way you work and portray yourself. Try to ask for the new tasks from your boss. It will be a good move if you will ask him to perform a few tasks of his voluntarily, so that he may notice you, with zeal and willingness to take loads of work. Everyone wants relaxation from work; provide that relaxation to your boss. Your stability and position will become stronger in the organization. Let others notice that you are working by applying “LBDN” approach. For those who do not know what “LBDN” approach is, let me define it as “Look busy Do nothing”. That’s what usually people do these days in corporate sector to look busy and loaded with the work. They mostly open up 2 to 3 files on their tables and portray that they are studying and working on multiple files, clients and projects at the same time. This makes others feel that the person is very dedicated and devoted.
It is a fact that one can not be promoted unless and until his or her boss is asked about the performance of the candidate. So gulp it up, there is no other way out. These days miracles do not happen. It is better to impress your boss to climb the ladder of the success. Many people try to provide support to their immediate bosses and act as per their instructions; this allows them to be in the “good books” of their bosses. If their bosses get promoted, so do they. A few things that give a boost to your image in front of your boss may include:
- Positive work attitude. (never decline any task given to you by your boss)
- Satisfaction of your boss (try to satisfy your boss, the same way you try hard to satisfy your wife or girl friend, it is hard but not impossible)
- Try to take initiatives in taking care of your boss’s work. Try to become the back bone of your boss.
