Yesterday I visited Pepe’s Piri Piri (a UK based food chain) for food tasting. Pepe’s Piri Piri is two months old in Karachi, officially launched on 14th August 2019. The brand specifically specializes in grilled chicken and is known for serving multi-flavored sauced chicken including Mango & Lime, Lemon & Herb, Mild, Hot, Extra Hot and Extreme. I prefer next level spices, so for me the biggest attraction was to taste the spiciest grilled chicken. Here’s what my experience at Pepe’s Piri Piri was like;

To start with, I was served with Lime and Herb flavored chicken, to my taste those were a little too intense. I ordered EXTREME chicken and that was pretty decent. The chicken was extremely tender and spice level, for me was bearable, unlike others who tried the same – well, they were sipping water after each bite. In totality, I’d rate extreme chicken 3 out of 5 because it was very well done, nicely marinated and had the kick (only if you devour it at the right temperature).
Later, I decided to try Espetada and that was a pleasant surprise for me to be honest. I have tried the same from various eateries in Karachi and the one that Pepe’s Piri Piri is offering is hefty and loaded. The chicken size was huge and the chunks were all marinated to perfection, spiced to a great level, they were juicy and tasty.
