In professional world, everyone wants to taste success. After all, organizations mostly (read: only) have one objective and that is to earn profit which cannot be earned without being successful in the market. This is the reason why every other professional wants to be either “successful” or “nothing”. For success, people take calculative and secure measures because they are scared to meet the “F” word – i.e. failure, in their careers. This makes them somewhat laid back – by not taking chances for which they aren’t sure. They only participate in things where they are dead sure that they will succeed at the end. Else, they don’t care to ponder on things which don’t give them 100 percent conformity.
Every professional in corporate world, likes to share success stories and quotations taken from different books but they forget that behind every success is (at least one) failure. Those who haven’t tasted failures can never cherish the feeling of success. In corporate world, we are so much horrified and pressurized by our colleagues, bosses and other individuals that we don’t take chances. By not taking chances, we waste our potential and as a result we fail to explore our hidden skills and talent.
There are times when you think that a plan has great potential but just because of the resistance of your boss or colleagues you accept to drop it and go with another plan that seems profitable not because of the fact that it is something promising but only because it is liked and supported by others. In such scenario, always listen to your gut feeling and stick to your plan – definitely if you have a genuine reason, it will work. And in case it doesn’t work, you will gain an experience. They say experience is priceless. Right!
This also does not mean that every company should appreciate only failures and not achievers. All it means that a company should give a free hand to its professionals in order to learn from their mistakes or failures and record (and shelf) them as case studies for budding talent to learn from the mistakes of other. A person consciously or subconsciously learns from his failures, provided he is interested in learning from them. It’s an organization’s duty to groom its workforce and learning from one’s failure is always recommended by philosophers (whom numerous companies follow).
Always keep in mind; facing a disappointment is a chance to learn from one’s mistakes.
