Self Management Skills – Key For Growth

Have you ever wondered what it takes to lead and grow in every aspect of life? Different people have different answers to this question, I have mine. It is all about to well you can manage yourself, whether in ease or stress. Self management skills are taught in MBA and BBA classes as well, but from where I see it, these skills should be taught at school level. After all, we should know from the childhood how to focus on personal traits and skills like

– Effective Communication,

– Organizing Efficiently,

– Differentiating between priorities and urgent tasks,

– Time management etc.

These above mentioned skills need to be polished on frequent basis in order to stay ahead and leading professionally. There are many courses, programs and workshops which can help you gain your confidence in you, plus, they help you understand the fine details which are usually overlooked.

Effective Communication – Key To Self Management Skills

For instance, for an effective communication the most significant thing is to listen carefully and get the right message decoded. This depends upon the following factors

communication skills

Be relax and pay full attention when listening to the speaker,

Focus on the tone of the communication,

Don’t ask irrelevant questions, ask your questions when the time is right and the speaker has completed his point,

Be rational and calm when communicating.

Keep your body language decent and welcoming.

Organizing And Analyzing

When you are organizing anything, your main focus should be on one thing and that is trying to complete the task wit utmost perfection and clarity. Breaking tasks in to milestones always help in organizing things properly. Breaking down the important things helps in achieving the goal effortlessly and systematically.

You shouldn’t confuse yourself between urgent and priority based tasks. Always carry out the ABCD Analysis and based on the importance and urgency you can select which task to perform first.

Time Management Is No Rocket Science

Time management is the most crucial thing, everyone has same number of hours in a day but they way they manage their time make them different from each other. It is up to you how to make the most of your time by achieving the maximum, in that give slot.

These are some important and essential pointers which can help in improving your day to day activities. Last month I attended a work-shop which was conducted by Funverks and Mr. Sadeed Mirza shared some insights on communication organizing, prioritizing and elimination of tasks. Every trainer shares their own take on these topics but the most essential part is that, how much are you willing to change yourself. Changes shouldn’t be huge, start from simple and minute changes, be consistent and soon you will be able to embrace bigger and meaningful changes for your betterment and growth. All the best for improved Self Management Skills!
