Online shopping can really be fun if you get the opportunity to grab some great deals. By great deals I mean, hugely discounted products. It has been observed that in physical sales that crowd can get out of hand in terms of behaving and can cause chaos in the stores. The beauty of online sales is that there are no such catfights, jumping from one end to the other making others suffer from sweat, bad breath and the list goes on and on. Black Friday is famous worldwide for huge sales and people wait for it every year. In Pakistan, this was the first time that Black Friday was celebrated by multiple brands. In terms of adding creative touch to organizing first ever Black Friday sales in Pakistan, a few marketers and marketing enthusiasts grilled and fried the teams behind the brands for exactly copying the trend in local market, without understanding the target audience, their behavior and cultural associations with the day “Friday”. On the other hand, another brand introduced the same concept with a slight alteration by giving it the name of “White Friday”. This was actually a stand against the pervious brand and the brand with White Friday sales then started to defame the other brand by hiding behind the shield of culture, religion and emotions of the people of Pakistan. Tough it is not ethical to polish one’s name by defaming others.
Interestingly, there entered a 3rd contender which actually did a bit of research, tried to study the market of Pakistan and then introduced the trend supporting same online shopping sales extravaganza for straight 3 days and titled it “Friday Bazaar”. Friday Bazaar is actually an inspiration from “Jummah” Bazaar which is organized in Pakistan every week since ages. The leading online shopping bonanza #FridayBazaar offered up to 70% discounts on 500+ hot selling products including tablet PCs, laptops, cellphones, perfumes, LEDs, LCDs, and numerous other products. This was embraced by masses and classes on a great scale. The website never went down during the entire 3 day’s sale, whereas the websites running other similar campaigns faced a lot of hiccups in terms of going down for good 15 – 30 minutes multiple times which resulted in many bad reviews that were received from buyers and customers – in short a mismanaged activity.
#FridayBazaar On Social Media
#FridayBazaar in Pakistan was not only appreciated by online buyers but on social media, Twitter, it was trending. The good point is that the market of Pakistan is becoming mature and is also embracing online shopping at a faster pace. There was a time when online shopping was not supported by the masses of Pakistan but this is not the case now. At least one cannot say after witnessing the 3 days online shopping sale from different brands.
#FridayBazaar was www.ishopping.pk’s trend which was trended with the help of Team Magick (the official digital partners of the campaign). Let’s hope that more online shopping brands start their operations and customers get better and interesting deals for them.
