It takes a huge effort, on all levels, to make a brand strong and worth recommending to others. After all, no marketing is better than the word of mouth marketing. Let your customers be your vocal and become your brand advocates – that’s what I have learned in my professional career as a digital marketer.
A new café named “Sizzlers – Cafe & Grill” has been inaugurated in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 3, Karachi – Pakistan. I had heard mixed reviews from colleagues and wanted to check it myself. So, went there for lunch with my wife this afternoon. The ambiance seemed nice to me – one of those “Ah, it’s a decent place to visit” kind of setting and atmosphere.
When we were seated, the first thing we noticed were two stains on the table cloth (shown below).
This actually gave a “not-so-good” impression.
Anyway, the menu was presented and like always I went through the menu in detail (as it was my first time at “Sizzlers Cafe & Grill”). What I found strange was that the side lines were not included in the meals. I have personally never visited any restaurant or Café which particularly offer sidelines as separate orders. Who’d order mashed potatoes or a fist full of fries against this amount (that too excluding GST)?
On inquiring about their specialty the attendant replied with section names like “Steaks, Pastas, Burgers and Sandwiches” – So, what’s left? If everything is their specialty. Plus, they should be guided and educated to tell the names of the specific dishes rather than headings of the menu.
For starters, we ordered Cajun Quesadillas and Buffalo Wings. Also ordered Combination of Beef and Chicken Fajita plus Mushroom Cream Pasta.
- Cajun Quesadillas
- Cajun Quesadillas
- Buffalo Wings
- Combination of Beef/Chicken Fajita
- Combination of Beef/Chicken Fajita
- Combination of Beef/Chicken Fajita
- Mushroom Cream Pasta
- Blue Wolf
Mushroom Cream Pasta was terribly bland with mild sweetness – that sums it up.
Combination of Beef/Chicken Fajita looked good 4/5 marks on presentation – but the dish in which it was served was very small and it was practically impossible to toss the entire thing without staining the table cloth. Veggies were not properly tossed and sautéed by the chef.
Cajun Quesadillas were again free from the genuine taste i.e. they were plain, if not dipped in salsa sauce they practically had no distinctive taste.
Buffalo Wings were good as starters – the tartness level was apt.
Blue Wolf was ordered in the last minute. Too much Red Bull intensified.
Finally, I would rate Sizzlers Cafe & Grill 2/5. Yes, I am being generous, just keeping in mind and hoping that they will improve their service level, taste and quality standards.
